TOMS RIVER, NJ—April 2, 2009—The Haven at Silverwoods will participate in an Alzheimer’s Walk Fund Raiser, the largest national fund raising event for Alzheimer’s disease education and support programs. This memory walk is open to the public and will be held in more than 600 communities across the country. The Haven at Silverwoods team will be participating again this year. The team includes staff and residents, as well as family and friends of residents. Regionally, the event will take place in Point Pleasant, NJ on September 26, 2009.

“The memory walk is a fun-filled, family event with a focus on celebrating life and honoring those who have been affected by Alzheimer’s disease,” says Tara Bonelli, Community Relations Director of The Havens at Silverwoods. “We look forward to seeing the community come out, learn a bit about the latest updates and breakthroughs on the disease. But most of all, it’s about everyone demonstrating their support towards families that are affected by this disease.

Along with participating in the Alzheimer’s Walk Fund Raiser, The Haven at Silverwoods offers a free Alzheimer’s Support Group for both caregivers of residents at The Haven, and members of the community. Barbara Estrabrook, RN, Administrator says, “During our support group sessions, we provide a good separate activity for your loved ones who are suffering from Alzheimer’s. This way you can attend a session without the worry of leaving them home.”
